Matthew Spivey
Matthew Spivey Beng (hons) FIFSM has been in the fire and security industry for the last 35 years. He started as an apprentice alarm engineer and worked his way up the management ladder to a senior executive position in a blue-chip company.
Matthew was inspired to start Synergy Fire Engineering when he saw the poor quality of fire risk assessments and fire warden training on offer in the UK, which appeared to be delivered without the client in mind.
He became a member of the Institute of Fire Safety Managers and immediately applied for a place on the council as he felt the industry required support and the IFSM was the only professional body who were focusing on the needs of the fire risk assessor.
Matthew is the Vice Chairman at the Institute of Fire Safety Managers, sits as a permanent member on the GTG (Government Technical Guidance Committee) has a BEng in Fire Engineering, holds a Level 4 Diploma in Fire Risk Assessing and is registered as an Advanced assessor on the NAFRAR National Fire Risk Assessors Register.
