Martin Simmonds

Head of M&E , Stonewater

Martin served his apprenticeship as an electrician within the electrical contracting sector with him having a long and varied career working in a multitude of environments, including the MOD, NHS and Local Government.

He has managed and delivered many diverse projects over the years, with recognition through winning a national award for the Best Health and Wellbeing Initiative.

Martin is a Chartered Electrical Engineer, he currently works as the Head of Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) at Stonewater where he is responsible for managing the Electrical / Technical / Mechanical / Specialist Systems teams and contractual elements for multiple contracts including various large projects, he also provides technical support for the business in general.

He has represented his previous organisation in Westminster in consultation for the development of the Smart Metering Operations Group (SMOG) for Multi-Dwelling Units (MDU’s) and as Co-author of the Code of Practice for the Management of Electrotechnical Care in Social Housing.

Martin is Chairman of the Electrical Safety Roundtable - Social Housing subgroup and volunteers for the IET as a Mentor, Industry Representative and Professional Registration Advisor (PRA) and previously served as Chairman of the IET’s Electricians in Housing CPD Working Group. Alongside his technical competencies and volunteering he has extensive people management experience covering team members, external contractors and other key stakeholders.

Outside of work Martin is passionate about Rugby Union and classic cars and has recently rediscovered golf, so he is always up for a round with anyone in the Midlands area!
