FIREFLY® Specification Protects Peabody Trust Property
KBH Building Services and one of its accredited sub-contractors, was duly awarded a design, supply and install contract to fit all necessary new barriers within the unusually restricted, pitched roof areas. These were specified in conjunction with the FIREFLY® Technical Sales Manager. Ross Grey, Contracts Manager on the project for KBH commented: “We had a number of meetings on site with FIREFLY® Technical Manager, Andy Greenwood – and together we devised a specification which would meet all of the requirements. It has been an interesting but challenging project due to the compartmentation lines & the different roof materials with very limited working space, which has necessitated employing a variety of FIREFLY® systems.
For instance, we employed the manufacturer’s ablative batts with cavity closer on top to the membrane areas as well as the fire curtain to create protected zones with Zeus Lite & horizontal to form compartmentation. The ease of installation offered by the FIREFLY® systems has helped with working in such confined spaces, having so far installed some 500 square metres of Zeus fire barrier and another 180 square metres of the ablative batts. “
FIREFLY® Technical Sales Manager, Andrew Greenwood added: “During my visits and inspections, I can confirm the work carried out was done to a very high standard ensuring competency & compliantly installed products. We expect the work to take up to four months in all, running through to February 2026.”
Manufactured from woven and non-woven glass, the FIREFLY® range is designed to optimise resistance to flame and smoke as well as offer heat protection in a wide range of scenarios. The barriers are easy to install horizontally or vertically, using a full selection of FIREFLY®ancillary products to ensure a fully tested and certified installed system.
