Case Study: VERDIGRIS, BRISTOL
Project Overview
Verdigris is a 5-storey apartment complex in Bristol’s Old Market area, featuring copper cladding and red and white EWI render. The penthouse apartments on the 5th floor have privacy provided by Brise Soleil blades.
Access: Access for remediation was challenging, requiring entry through the underground carpark or via a temporarily installed access door in the courtyard.
Welfare: Office and welfare facilities were set up in the underground car park due to limited space.
Scope of Works:
Removed existing copper, flammable EWI façade, PUR
insulation, and plywood backing.
Discovered and replaced flammable Celotex insulation with
100mm A1 rated Rockwool insulation.
Installed Procheck A2 FR200 VCL barrier after finding no
existing VCL.
Installed Versaroc weather defence board, EPDM
waterproofing, OBEX Cortex breather membrane, and Side Rise cavity barriers.
Fitted Hilti helping hand system, 80mm Rockwool rainscreen
Duo Slab, galvanised Tata Deck sheeting and Tecu Standing Seam copper cladding.
Existing Brise Soleil: Removed and replaced faded wooden blades with new aluminium blades, powder-coated to a wooden effect.
Waste:
Recycled existing copper.
Repurposed plywood and timbers through the Bristol Wood
Recycling Project.
