The Secure Information Box (SIB) is a high-security storage solution designed to securely house vital building information for fire and rescue services. Now a legal requirement under The Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022 for high rise residential building over 18 meters, or new builds over 11 meters or 7 storeys, the SIB ensures that critical documents are accessible in an emergency and protected against tampering, theft and environmental exposure.

Key Features:

  • High security tested and certified: Independently tested and certified to STS205 BR2, meaning the box is robust, tamper-resistant and vandal-proof.
  • Secured by Design accredited: Meets Secured by Design, reinforcing trust in security performance.
  • Heavy-duty construction: Made from thick steel (4mm panels), giving strength and durability even in demanding external environments.
  • Multi-point locking: Enhanced locking mechanisms ensure only authorised access — with the fire service holding a master key and a unique key issued to the responsible person.
  • British-designed and manufactured: Proudly made in the UK with strict quality control and secure delivery processes, including recorded delivery and audited key issuance.
  • Clear identification: Powder-coated polyester finish in RAL 3000 flame red with compliant signage for quick fire service recognition.
  • Practical size and capacity: Designed to hold A3-sized documents and key information packs critical for emergency response.

Dimensions & Build:

  • Size: W 496 x H 569 x D 108 mm — large enough to accommodate essential plans and documents while remaining compact for wall mounting.
  • Weight: 22 kg, reflecting its solid build and secure materials.
  • Finish: Flame-red polyester powder coat for visibility and durability.

Typical Contents:
A well-equipped SIB typically includes critical documents that support emergency services in assessing a building quickly and safely, such as:

  • Building and floor plans
  • Evacuation strategies and orientation plans
  • Location of firefighting resources
  • Contact details for responsible personnel
  • Information on vulnerable residents and fire safety issues

Benefits:
Rapid access for emergency services — Firefighters can obtain essential information immediately, enabling faster, better-informed actions.
Improved safety outcomes — Quick access to floor layouts and safety plans can reduce risks to occupants and responders alike.
Compliance with legislation — Meets requirements for many high-rise and multi-occupancy residential buildings under current fire safety regulations.
Enhanced security and peace of mind — Built to protect sensitive data from unauthorised access, weather and vandalism.
