Course 1: Principles of fire safety (5 days)

• Fire Safety Legislation
• Human behaviour in fire and causes and effects of fire
• Principles of fire risk assessment

• Fire safety management

Course 2: Risk assessing complex premises (5 days)

• Risk profiling and management
• Compartmentation, floor space factors

• Offices and shops, Factories and warehouses, Hotels, Atria, Houses in multiple occupation (HMO), Residential care premises, Shopping complexes
• Fire risk assessment of complex premises

Course 3: Risk assessing regulated and licensed venues (5 days)

• Legislation, enforcement agencies, crowd behaviour, safety and control
• Assembly buildings and performance venues
• Theatres and cinemas
• Night clubs and casinos
• Outdoor events and firework displays

Course 4: Building Regulations (9 days)

• The Building Act, Building Regulations and Statutory Consultation

• Access to buildings and evacuation of people with disabilities
• Access and facilities for fire and rescue service
